Grab handle

The wife says the camper is hard to get into.

I found this plastic grab handle on ebay.

After looking at several options including putting it outside.  I decided to put it inside - high enough that you can get to the backside of the bolts in the microwave compartment.

Floor mat for a camper

Someday, I would like to put hardwood floors in the camper, until then it still has carpet flooring.  I was looking for something that would be a little easier to clean.

I saw this exercise mat. It is 4 foot by 8 foot.   I says it is antimicrobial and mold proof.

A razor knife make the cuts very easy.

It seems like it will be good.

STEPPING UP!!!!

Found a new step

It is a wider step than most.  It has a 400 lb weight limit.
Most people with Scamp's use some sort of step.

Stove Cover and Sink Cover

In a small camper is it always about getting more counter space.  Since i am not using the propane stove - most people buy or build a cover over it.  The same is said for the sink.  One thing i didn't notice was that ink blot on that plywood of the sink cover.  I thought surely i could paint over it.

painted the underside

Painted top

I am happy with it except for that ink blot.  I may buy a cutting board and glue it to the top of that one.

The hole in the middle is so you an lift it up..

Magic Mesh Screen door

You can pick these up for about 7 bucks off ebay or amazon

You can cut it to fit the camper

My neighbor sewed them together at the top and made a loop that you could slide a curtain rod thru.

She also sewed some tie off strings on the sides which are handy.

Velcro the sides down with the included Velcro then simply walk thru it.
I think i will take my down and put it up at the campsite

Back Bed modification

This is what the back bed looked like. It had two boards that wobbled everytime you got up.

I cut a 3/4 plywood to fit in it.  Notice the black line. I extended the bed 2 more inches and filled in the triangle areas.

I then cut a 1/2 plywood to lay over the whole bed.  I wanted it to be one solid piece but couldnt get it in the camper like that.   I screwed them together so they will lift as one solid piece. It is alot more strudy bed now.

The table that was here was same size as this but the sun damaged half of it where it was up against the window.  I cut this new table out of the pristine table that was under the cushions all this time.  Bonus.  Fixed two problems.

I found a way to keep the storage under the bed during transit.

12 Volt Power

Adding 12 volt power plug to camper is a good thing.  You can run these straight to the battery so you know you have a good strong connection.  This is one of my favorite brands from Orelly's

What is good about it comes with a lock washer to lock behind what ever you drilled into.  It come with plenty of wire to run to the battery.

I put two in my camper.  The first was in hole where the Thermostat went for the heater. Since, i wasn't going to use the heater this was a good place back by the back bed.   I use a CPAP machine and this will be very handy for using it back there on 12 volt power.

The next spot i put it was in the front buck area because it was so close to the battery it was a short run of cord.

Finally this is something i picked up at the Dollar tree for $1.00
It is a light switch LED light.   I mounted it there because the camper is dark at night before i can reach for a 12 volt light.

TO BE SEEN IN THE DARK BETTER!!!!

The old marker lights were in bad shape

Harbor Freight had a sale on a set of these in red and orange.  You don't see the red ones for sale as much.  I thought it was good to get a matching set.

Putting these on was tricker than on a metal trailer that it ground the light when you screw it to the trailer.  Scamp has two wire that go to each light.  I had to use a solder iron to solder the leads to the right spots and drill holes for the wires to come in to the holder.

They are not LED but they have two bulbs instead of the one bulb that the original had

The old taillight cover were dirty on the inside.  I cleaned them and put new bulbs in them

Tip on this job:
Get a rivet gun.  You have to drill out the old rivets.  You can't get to the back marker lights because of water tanks.

Escape from the Broken Hatch !!

Ok they call this a Escape hatch - I call it a Roof vent

It had seen better days.  Considering that it was Riveted on there - I would say that it was a 1994 original

You have to use the center piece off the old one on the new one

I made a little video of the process of switching out the roof vent.  The new vent is only sold by Scamp because it is a odd size of 17 x 24

Finished product

Start at the Front and the Back

So that next day i woke up at 5 am - By 6 am i was in Walmart buying stuff for the camper and by daylight I was spray painting.

Tongue was in bad shape. It had a old battery in a open battery box and double propane tank holder.

Spray painted the tongue

Installed new Tongue box with Battery

Mounted Battery in box

Added a battery tender

New jack

Masked off and painted bumper
